The Importance of Being Earnest
by Oscar Wilde
The Importance of Being Earnest is a Victorian play in which the serious characters become effectually funny through ingenuous misconceptions. The story centers on Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff who pretend to have secular identity of Ernest. Under this alias, they attempt to conquer the hearts of Miss Cecily Cardew and Gwendolen Fairfax. The drama becomes thicker when Moncrieff’s aunt Lady Bracknell makes every effort to keep the standards of decency alive causing more headache for Mr.Worthing. After this nothing can be taken lightly anymore.
